Skype for MacOS Leaves Beta

The popular Skype VoIP software, already available for Linux, Windows and Pocket PC’s is reported to have been released as version 1.0 for Macintosh users. The software is free to use when communicating between individual users and offers very low pricing for consumer grade VoIP communications to the public telephone network in many countries around the world. Vonage Reports Calls Blocked by Broadband Provider

Vonage Holdings of New Jersey has reported to the FCC that at least one broadband Internet provider deliberately blocked the ports it uses for Voice over IP calling. Although not reporting the name of the provider, Vonage reports having to resort to special measures to route around the blockages. More details are available at InfoWorld.

Las Vegas Airport Goes Wireless

The McCarran International Airport has installed 30 free Internet wireless access points for passengers and onsite vendors. According to a recent article in Network World, the $75,000 system has been up and running since January 20th.
